We have had a considerable number of complaints of spam emails containing PDF attachments coming from the Hotmail and AOL email networks.
Normally, PDF attachments are allowed straight through, but, due to the high volume of complaints, we have removed PDF attachments from the accepted file list so that it has to be processed like any other attachment.
Hotmail Spam PDF Attachment Blocking
As Hotmail is not on the approved list for the whole domain due to the high volume of spam that originates from the Microsoft Hotmail network, all PDF files will be checked to see if the originator is on an approved list to send users of SpamSafeMail a PDF attachment. If they are not, then the email will be rejected.
AOL Spam PDF Attachment Blocking
As AOL is also not on the approved list for the whole domain due to the high volume of spam that originates from the AOL network, all PDF files will be checked to see if the originator is on an approved list to send users of SpamSafeMail a PDF attachment. If they are not, then the email will be rejected.
Getting PDF Attachment Approval
In order for a sender to be approved, all that a SpamSafeMail user needs to do is to simply send the other user an email. This will add them to the approved list, and PDF attachments will flow unhindered from that moment onwards.
